WHO WE ARE

We build the market for Malawian creativity.

A youth-led cultural enterprise staging Malawian creativity as premium live experiences, and turning it into income for the people who make it.

OUR STORY EST. 2023 · LILONGWE, MALAWI

Born in Lilongwe, built on connection.

The Sunday Soirée began in Lilongwe in 2023, with a simple belief: that human connection is the most valuable thing we can build, and that Malawian creativity deserves a stage worthy of it.

We did not set out to throw parties. We set out to solve something. Across the world, people are more connected online and more alone than ever. At home, the artisans, makers and artists who carry our culture are too often left out of the formal economy. We saw a single answer to both: bring people into one room, around real culture, and let connection do its work.

So we built a different kind of event. Local talent on stage, local makers on the floor, a value chain that is fully Malawian. Every soirée became a room built for connection, and a market that pays the people who create it. The event is the vehicle. Connection is the product, and the economy it creates is the proof.

What began as one night has grown into a movement: sold-out events since 2023, thousands of guests, and hundreds of artists paid. Behind it stands a small team that has spent years building the platform, and the culture, that makes it all possible.

THE MICRO-ECONOMY

A working economy around every event.

Each soirée puts paid work in the hands of artists, designers, make-up artists, photographers and vendors. Many are young, many are women-led, and most run their own micro-businesses that earn around us without ever being on our payroll. This is what economic empowerment looks like in practice. Not a donation, but a market.

HOW IT RUNS

Cashless, by design.

Every soirée is fully cashless. Tickets move through Ulinzinga by PayChangu, and payments on the floor are powered by FDH Bank Plc. It makes the night smoother for guests, and gives our brand partners clear, measurable insight into who attended and how they engaged.

Event-based team Crew, volunteers & STEM Malawi

Around this core team, every soirée is delivered by an extensive event-based workforce and a corps of volunteers, run in partnership with STEM Malawi, a fellow youth-led organisation. Together we create real opportunities for young people, many of them young men entering the workforce, and transfer practical skills in production, operations and hospitality with every event we stage.

SOCIAL IMPACT

Culture that gives back.

Our impact runs deeper than the events. Through The Soirée Foundation and our partners, we invest in the people and communities behind the culture, channelling creative income, skills and opportunity where it is needed most.
