How are you, really?

We ask it casually a dozen times a day: “How are you?” And the answer is almost always automatic: “Fine.” “Good.” “Alright.”

But beneath that surface, especially for men navigating a world that often praises stoicism over sincerity, the real answer is usually more complex. What if we actually stopped to ask, and listened to the answer?

This Men’s Mental Health Month, we’re creating a space in Lilongwe where that real conversation can finally happen.

Introducing the Unplugged Wellness Circles: A Creative Approach to Men’s Mental Health

🗓️   Friday, 27 June 2025
🕒   2:00 PM – 6:30 PM
📍   Zaluso Arts, Area 47, Lilongwe
🎟️ Free Entry – Registration Required (Spaces are Limited!)

Hosted by The Sunday Soirée in partnership with 21st Generation, Zaluso Arts, and Melodix Studios, this pilot event is more than just a talk shop. It’s an immersive, artistically curated sanctuary designed for men to talk, feel, connect, and heal.

This is the flagship experience under The Cue, our new talent development program weaving together music, mental wellness, and creative mentorship for emerging artists and young professionals.

Why This Matters Now

In Malawi, as globally, men often carry invisible burdens. Societal expectations of being the “strong, silent type” can leave feelings bottled up, struggles unspoken, and true wellbeing neglected. June is a global moment for reflection on men’s mental health – but here, we’re turning reflection into real, resonant dialogue.

How Are You, Really?” isn’t just the event title; it’s the essential question we often avoid. We’re building a space that actively challenges stigma and fosters authentic brotherhood through sound, raw storytelling, and shared vulnerability.

What to Expect: An Afternoon of Connection & Catharsis
Prepare for an experience that engages your heart and mind:

  1. Unplugged Semi-Live Performances & Raw Dialogue: Witness an intimate set by Mic Mash and Way2Savage. This isn’t just a performance; it’s the spark for an open, honest group discussion about the emotional masks we wear, the weight of daily pressure, and the hidden cost of silence.
  2. The Emotion Wall (Presented by Zaluso Arts): Got something you’ve never voiced? Here’s your chance – anonymously. Write your unspoken thoughts, fears, or hopes on colorful materials and add them to a collective art piece. This evolving wall becomes a striking visual testament to the real emotional landscape of Malawian men.
  3. The Ripple Method: Healing starts from within and spreads outward. Each confirmed guest is encouraged to invite two other men into the circle. This peer-driven approach builds community organically, creating waves of connection and support that extend far beyond the event itself.

Who Belongs in This Circle?
This space is intentionally for every man, but all genders are welcome who needs a moment to breathe, reflect, or simply be:

  • Young men navigating life’s pressures
  • Fathers carrying the weight of responsibility
  • Brothers, friends, and colleagues
  • Artists, hustlers, and professionals
  • Anyone feeling stuck, burnt out, or unseen
  • Those ready to listen and support others on their journey

Whether you’re grappling with deep struggles or simply believe in the power of men supporting men, you are welcome here.
